Housing starts in the Vancouver Census Metropolitan Area remained stable in October compared with September, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation data released November 8.
October’s six-month moving average was 19,467 units – 11 units fewer than September.
“A decline in apartment construction in October contributed to the housing starts trend being slightly lower this month than last month,” said Lance Jakubec, senior market analyst for Vancouver, CMHC.
Abbotsford starts were trending at 807 units in October – a decline of 19 units or 2.4%.
